Learning for Life – A program that can help many of our children

A friend of mine recently moved to Miami with her husband and son.  She was excited for the move but worried for her 12 year old son Matt.  Matt was a good student, but it would take him a long time to complete his work and study for tests; he struggled to get good grades.  She knew he had reading difficulties and always had tutors to help but it wasn’t helping the problem, it was just solving it temporarily. My friend spent months looking for specialized centers in Miami that could help her son.  Finally, she was given the number of Learning for Life (www.lflmiami.com); her search was over.

It’s been only 3 months since my friend got help through Learning for Life.  I saw Matt yesterday and he is already reading above grade level.  What touched me the most was a comment he made.  He said, “My brain feels different.  I feel smarter!”  I looked at my friend and she had tears in her eyes and so I decided to share it with all of you that might know someone who needs this extra help.

I called to find out a little about the program and this is basically what it is, and how it works:  Learning for Life training programs go beyond academic struggles to attack the root of the problem- the limitations of the student’s ability to learn.  In other words, they treat the causes, not the symptoms.   Unlike academic tutoring, which can go on for years, Learning for Life programs are short-term and intensive.  They are like a mental boot camp.  These programs can help kids get a competitive edge and makes learning more enjoyable and productive.

Learning for Life programs develop:

 ·       Attention

 ·       Concentration

 ·       Processing Speed

·       Logic & Reasoning

·       Visual Processing

·       Memory

·       Planning

·       Auditory Processing

This causes self-esteem to improve.  In fact, 60% of parents comment on the improvement in their child’s self-image and attitude by the end of training.  Learning for Life makes parents feel good as well, because the average improvement after 3 months of training is 3.6 years in processing skills. The results are that the child no longer has to learn process information and can now process information in order to learn.  Learning for Life’s reading program, Master the Code, is amazing as well.  Participants are averaging over 3 years of reading skills improvement in less than 5 months!  These students don’t pause to sound out words.  The resulting reading fluency leads to higher comprehension.
