The possibility of reusing an artificial tree over and over leads many of us to believe they are more environmentally responsible. The downside is that they are made of PVC, a plastic which creates a lot of pollution when produced and which is very hard to recycle.
Ultimately, “farmed” trees are a renewable resource. And after the holidays the trees can be recycled into mulch. You can also consider the possibility of a live tree but have to remember that some types can only remain indoors for a maximum of about 10 days and will probably need to be replanted in your yard later.
