Sale of Home Steeped in Miami Lore is Most Expensive Sale to Date on Exclusive Island

EWM Realty International’s well known top producer Esther Percal, today announced the sale of 42 La Gorce Circle, for $30 million.  It is the most expensive sale to date on the exclusive island enclave in Miami Beach.  The buyer is a European corporation. The seller is another corporation, 1418518 Ontario, Inc., who purchased the property in March, 2001 for $12.450 million. Coldwell Banker’s  Jill Eber was the listing agent.

At $30 million, it is the highest priced home ever sold on La Gorce Island, and is tied for the third most expensive sale ever in Miami-Dade County, according to MLS records.

The home has 11 bedrooms, 14 full baths and 3 half-baths, with 349 feet of Biscayne Bay water frontage, yacht dockage and wide views of the Miami skyline.  The lot size is 70,914 sq. ft. (1.63 acres) consisting of 3 ½ lots.

The home is steeped in Miami lore, as it was at one point the residence of former Centrust chairman David Paul, and ultimately a part of his downfall. Paul’s actions to assemble the properties and illegally seek various construction approvals (including three large boat docks behind the house), also contributed to the downfall of former Miami Beach Mayor Alex Daoud.

“This is a stunning estate,” concludes Esther Percal, “one of the most unique properties on the eastern seaboard.”
