Landlords can now examine your rent payment history

Prospective tenants may have a new advantage or a thing to fear when applying to a new landlord. Landlords who check credit reports can now see even more thanks to consumer credit reporting firm Experian. Experian has announced that it will now include rental payment history, when available, in its traditional credit reports. While this information may boost credit scores for those who pay their rents on time, the downside is that landlords may use the negative information to increase security deposits or even deny a prospective tenant altogether.
