It is amazing what a difference, fresh flowers can make! Whether it be in your home in a vase, or outside in your garden…
With that theory in mind, a bunch of local Las Olas Business Vendors set off gloved, with shovels in hand to bring cheerful life to Las Olas Boulevard.
It was an early start at 7.30am on a Sunday Morning in September when the groggy crew arrived at Mango’s, on Las Olas. Luckily, strong coffee was on tap. Our fearless leader, Laura Mogilewski greeted us with crisp white gardening T-Shirts.
Revved up on caffeine…off to work we went…Hi Ho! Hi Ho! It was more arduous than we could have imagined digging holes in the center planters on Las Olas due to all the killer roots of the trees, but after some real elbow grease, we did it!
Verna Miller must have done this before, as she seemed like the expert in the digging arena and solo, tackled some of toughest planters on the block. Janet Pearson lifted so much that the next day she had to rest her poor back! and Jeff Sullivan (who’s personal garden I can’t wait to see!) enjoyed playing fireman with the watering hose!
Teamwork makes all the difference and what a great bunch of people who sweated out their Sunday Morning, laughing with the humor of Kevin Crawford as they went to spruce up Las Olas with gorgeous flowers and plants.
So, as you walk by, remember to stop and smell the flowers….
