DARE TO BE A "DIVA" IN DAVIE'S FOREST RIDGE

You, too, can be a Diva….. thanks to several spirited women, who all happen to live in the Forest Ridge Community in Davie, Florida. A group called the Forest Ridge Women’s Club (FRWC) has been providing women of all ages with endless opportunties to make new friends and socialize on a regular basis.

Some of their regular activities include:

  • Diving with the Divas – a dinner outing at a different restaurant each month
  • The Lunch Bunch – same thing, only lunch
  • The FRWC “Meeting” – a monthly theme based get together, held at the homes of the hosting club member, where we talk about serious issues such as raising funds for local charities, but mostly to eat, drink and be merry. Or as the club President, who happens to be from New Orleans, says “to pass a good time, YA’LL.”Long cool drink

Many solid friendships have been formed as a result of these meetings. Monthly Meetings have included themes such as:

“Ladies of the Night”, don’t ask!

“Aloha Night”, a Hawaiian theme

“A Scotch Tasting”, hosted by one of our Scottish neighbors

“A King Cake Party”– held during Mardi Gras season, where all in attendance must perform the Second Line Dance

The Village People“Rock and Roll”, portrayed here by Forest Ridge’s own Village People

September’s theme is a murder mystery, “Death Bemoans Her”. The cast will be played by members of the FRWC

Annual Events Include:

Limo ride, dinner and Christmas on Las Olas

The Gala, a semi-formal affair sponsored by the FRWC and open to all. This year’s theme is Denim to Diamonds”. It is being held on Friday, October 26th at the Arrowhead Country Club. Tickets are $40.00 per person.

Participation in the Forest Ridge Holly Day Parade, riding on a float or trolley

Other spontaneous and occasional events, such as Day Trips, Cruises and Birthday Celebrations occur throughout the year. Annual dues are only $25.00 and they help to defray the costs of the monthly meetings and directory.

I have found this to be a great way for neighbors to get to know neighbors, and for women to support one another in times of need. If you are looking for a place to practice the “Divine Secrets of the Ya Ya Sisterhood” , look no further, you will find it here in Forest Ridge.
