Bike Friendly Miami

The East Coast Greenway will connect Key West to Maine with 2900 miles of off road bike paths. It is currently 30% complete comprised of segments built by local authorities, with connections lacking between the segments. Who knew that the state that is farthest along is Florida, and that traffic-challenged Miami has one of the longest segments? It is the M Path which runs beneath the Metrorail from the Miami River to Dadeland and the linked South Miami-Dade busway trail that extends from there to Florida City. The Underline master plan to transform all of the area under the Metrorail into a linear urban park for cyclists and pedestrians deserves our support, as does creating the Ludlam Trail along of the old rail line connecting Dadeland to Blue Lagoon. Imagine Miami as a healthy, bike and hike friendly community with easy access to our diverse neighborhoods without getting in a car.
