Armed Forces Day was founded in 1950 by President Truman and unlike Veteran’s Day it is a holiday of Nations around the world. This day is used to thank a Solider or Sailor for what they do for us everyday.
Okay so we do not get a Monday off to BBQ but that is not what these holidays are about. If you see a member of the Armed Forces take a moment to stop and thank them especially this Saturday. I am a Veteran myself (20 year Coast Guard Rescue Swimmer) and I always enjoyed hearing a thank you. There are a lot of young men and women serving today that need our help more than ever.
Just remember this weekend Freedom is not Free.
