Alhambra Orchestra Concert and Fundraiser

The Coconut Grove based Alhambra Orchestra celebrates it’s 20th season with  performances of classical music and a party and fundraiser on Saturday, November 21st 7:00 PM at the German American Club, 11919 SW 56th St. Miami.

Those attending will have the opportunity to bid on auctions items, with all proceeds benefiting the  orchestra. Tickets to the party are $25 and include a buffet. There will be a cash bar.

The mission of the Alhambra Orchestra is to provide free concerts for the community, families with children, senior citizens, and all lovers of classical music. The  orchestra, conducted by Alfred Gershfeld, has 55 members, amateurs and professionals. The Alhambra Orchestra, as Miami’s community orchestra, is involved with musical outreach and participates with youth concerts with the Greater Miami Youth Symphony and  chamber music workshops with the Bergonzi Quartet and other University of Miami music faculty. There is an annual concerto competition for young musicians.

The 2009 Halloween concert with the Greater Miami Youth Symphony was a huge success. The auditorium at Ransom Everglades was packed with children ( and adults ) in costume enjoying Halloween themed music such as Danse Macabre, The Phantom of the Opera and more.
