Yet another tremendous project going up off Ponce de Leon Blvd, in Coral Gables, and this one was a LONG TIME COMING! There were plans back in 2008 to develop this same area by commercial developer Ralph Sanchez (known for the Miami Grand Prix and the Homestead Motorsports Complex amongst other noteworthy projects). Similar to today, the plan was to build luxurious condos, villas and a multi-use office tower. These plans fell through due to the recession but we’ve turned the corner and this new development should create over 1,500 jobs!
The mixed-use project (designed by RTKL and the developer Agave Ponce) will include a five-star hotel, Class A office space, high-end retail shops and 229 luxurious townhomes and condos. Half of the project is going to be committed to open space that will include a rooftop restaurant, parks and even bike storage facilities with showers and lockers for cyclists. The development will also have an artistic feel with public art displayed throughout. Worried about parking? Don’t be! 2,700 underground parking spaces are part of the new design.
