\"Area<\/a>Part of a larger group of events known as CARNAVAL MIAMI<\/strong><\/a>, this year’s Calle Ocho<\/a><\/strong> marks its 30th Anniversary<\/strong> and will be held on SUNDAY March 16th from 11:00 AM to 7:00 PM. <\/strong>Calle Ocho is a FREE block party 23 blocks long (on SW 8th Street from SW 4th Avenue to SW 27th Avenue) attracting over a million people each year. The FREE concerts feature some big names in music: Chaka Khan,<\/strong> Rihanna<\/strong> under my um-brelluh-ella-ella-eh-eh (in pink below), Herbie Hancock, Buster Poindexter, Harry Connick Jr.,<\/strong> some of the Caribbean’s favorites: Kevin Little, Wyclef Jean, Shaggy,<\/strong> and local favorites: Pitbull, and Area 305<\/strong> (“area tres zero cinco” pictured above<\/strong>), along with a Talent Search for unknowns. There are the usual vendor and corporate sponsor stalls–Lots of yummy food and brand-name giveaways.<\/p>\n
