{"id":73716,"date":"2013-08-15T02:25:36","date_gmt":"2013-08-15T06:25:36","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.ewmrealestate.com\/blog\/?p=73716"},"modified":"2015-03-20T16:05:29","modified_gmt":"2015-03-20T16:05:29","slug":"coral-gables-to-reduce-property-taxes-3rd-year-in-a-row","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ewmrealestate.com\/blog\/coral-gables-to-reduce-property-taxes-3rd-year-in-a-row\/","title":{"rendered":"Coral Gables to Reduce Property Taxes 3rd Year in a Row"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.ewmrealestate.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/08\/Coral-Gables-seal.gif\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-73719\" alt=\"Coral Gables seal\" src=\"https:\/\/www.ewmrealestate.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/08\/Coral-Gables-seal.gif\" width=\"235\" height=\"220\" \/><\/a><br \/>\nWhile other communities continue to struggle with higher taxes and cuts in services, the <strong>Coral Gables<\/strong> City Commission has just <strong>approved the millage rate reduction<\/strong> proposed by City Manager Pat Salerno and endorsed by Mayor Jim Cason. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ewmrealestate.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/08\/Coral-Gables-City-Hall.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignright size-full wp-image-73717\" alt=\"Coral Gables City Hall\" src=\"https:\/\/www.ewmrealestate.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/08\/Coral-Gables-City-Hall.png\" width=\"275\" height=\"183\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>For the<strong> 3rd year in a row, the City of Coral Gables has been able to cut the millage rate<\/strong>, resulting in a <strong>reduction in property taxes<\/strong> without sacrificing the high quality of city services the residents have come accustomed to receiving.<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ewmrealestate.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/08\/cutting-taxes.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-73720\" alt=\"cutting taxes\" src=\"https:\/\/www.ewmrealestate.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/08\/cutting-taxes.jpg\" width=\"240\" height=\"159\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Mayor Cason said, &#8220;Although its a challenge to reduce the millage rate and still have the necessary funds to maintain and enhance the services residents enjoy, I believe the proposed budget accomplishes the needs of our residents while keeping us on the path to <strong>economic sustainability<\/strong>&#8220;. The city will be hiring<strong> 7 new police officers<\/strong> for the field which will<strong> increase the number of sworn<\/strong> <strong>officers to the highest level in city history<\/strong>.<br \/>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ewmrealestate.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/08\/DeSoto-Fountain.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-73721\" alt=\"DeSoto Fountain\" src=\"https:\/\/www.ewmrealestate.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/08\/DeSoto-Fountain.jpg\" width=\"273\" height=\"185\" \/><\/a><br \/>\nThe new budget also includes nearly <strong>$10 million in Capital Improvements<\/strong>, part of which will be the acquisition of additional <strong>green space for parks<\/strong>, the restoration of the <strong>city founders&#8217; Merrick House<\/strong> and<strong> improvements<\/strong> to the <strong>Youth Center<\/strong> and new streetscape <strong>beautification projects<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Coral Gables, <em>&#8220;The City Beautiful<\/em><\/strong><em>&#8220;,<\/em> once again lives up to its name. Thanks to the current city management and city commissioners, Coral Gables continues to be <strong>THE premier place to live in South Florida<\/strong>.
