I’m sure that at some time you have received a notification that you are eligible, as a member of a class, to participate in the (hopeful) rewards of a successful class action lawsuit<\/strong>. You probably know what the forms look like: LEGAL NOTICE BY ORDER OF THE COURT. <\/strong> Lots of legalese. Options for you to participate in the suit and or opt out. Generally they will name the original plaintiff and you need to do certain things to prove you are a member of the class. Either you bought something or use a service, etc.<\/p>\n

Well the latest scam hit the mailbox earlier this week! The document looks just as described and the defendant is Finance America, LLC. Apparently their crime was to solicit you for a mortgage loan. Some guy (yes, in California) has successfully brought a class action lawsuit and, surprise<\/strong>!, you are a member of the class. You may be eligable to participate in the settlement of this lawsuit. <\/em>And what is the settlement benefit? If you do respond you get to “apply for and be approved to receive a Settlement Loan”.<\/strong><\/em> And of course, you must act fast!<\/p>\n

Oh, and just so you know who the real winners are, paragraph 12 tells you that the Class Counsel (the attorneys) will ask the Court for compensation for all their good efforts on behalf of you and all the other poor Class members in the amount of $3,500,000. <\/strong>(The “attorney’s fees and expenses”) <\/strong>Maybe we are<\/strong> in the wrong business.<\/p>\n

Whoopee! Another opportunity for a finance company to get your information, and essentially your permission for them to keep hounding you.<\/p>\n
