The housing industry was flattened.\u00a0 2 Million construction workers lost their jobs. Terms were impossible for homebuyers to get mortgages.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #993300\"><span style=\"color: #000000\">America was a nation of renters.\u00a0 Only 4 in 10 households owned homes.\u00a0 The FHA made terms easy, they encouraged home ownership.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #993300\"><span style=\"color: #000000\">After World War II in the 1940&#8217;s FHA programs helped finance housing for returning vets.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #993300\"><span style=\"color: #000000\">Indeed, whole towns were built to accomodate the demand of military families.
