If you like parades or parodies you will love Coconut Grove’s King Mango Strut Parade.<\/p>\n

<\/a><\/p>\n

<\/a><\/a><\/a><\/a>Legend has it that “The Merry Mango Marching Band” wearing conch shells on their heads (and who knows what on their bodies), playing kazoos and banging on garbage cans wanted to march in the King Orange Bowl Parade. As you might have guessed they were rejected (gee, I wonder why). Being the nutty rebels that they are, the King Mango Strut was born in 1982.<\/p>\n

Each year the politicians, celebrities and just wacky stories of the year are featured in the parade. National and local stories are targeted, there is no subject off limits. This year we had Dick Cheney looking for people (targets) to go hunting, the water-sewer cell plan, celebrate the holidays in Miami with road rage, to name a few.<\/p>\n
