{"id":10987,"date":"2008-10-03T12:58:12","date_gmt":"2008-10-03T16:58:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.ewmrealestate.com\/blog\/?p=10987"},"modified":"2019-04-23T20:57:06","modified_gmt":"2019-04-23T20:57:06","slug":"wells-fargo-buys-wachovia","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ewmrealestate.com\/blog\/wells-fargo-buys-wachovia\/","title":{"rendered":"Wells Fargo buys Wachovia"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Woke up this morning to squack box CNBC news, as I usually do, and I thought I hadn&#8217;t heard correctly: all week we&#8217;d been getting the news about Citigroup&#8217;s acquisition, with government assistance, of Wachovia, and this morning, it&#8217;s all undone and Wells Fargo is picking it up, without any government assistance.\u00a0 I remember when mergers and acquisitions of such magnitude would take months, and here, with lightning speed, these huge corporations are moving into each other&#8217;s arms.<\/p>\n<p>It was rumored before the Citi takeover, that Wells Fargo was looking at the deal and was probably working behind the scenes to make the offer. Most analysts agree that <strong>Wells Fargo<\/strong> is probably the <strong>strongest<\/strong> and best managed of all the major banks, or what&#8217;s left of them.
