I recently wrote about the controversial new sculpture<\/a> that was installed at the Segovia \/ Biltmore Way roundabout, and apparently that piece of art is still getting a lot of attention from Coral Gables residents \u2013 and not in a good way.<\/p>\n

There is a petition<\/a> circulating that calls for the removal of artist Alice Aycock\u2019s design. It proposes that the sculpture be moved someplace more appropriate, such as Fairchild Gardens. I actually think that it would be quite striking in that setting! Like in my previous blog \u201cReal or Fake,\u201d<\/a> it would provide an interesting contrast between what an artist can design and what Mother Nature has brought to life.<\/p>\n

In addition to the aforementioned petition, former New York Times journalist and Gables resident George Volsky has written a lengthy piece on the sculpture<\/a> \u2013 and the fact that the vote to select the piece was dubious at best.<\/p>\n
