West Grove Road to Recovery
Coconut Grove is the oldest established city in all of South Florida. “The Grove”, as referred to by many, is divided into four sections – North Grove, East Grove, South Grove and West Grove.
West Grove or “Village West” was settled by Bahamian immigrants in the late 19th century. It thrived in the early 20th century with single family homes and booming businesses.
Today, West Grove struggles with high levels of poverty and crime. There are several initiatives being taken to improve the quality of life in West Grove and make it a safer place to live.
