While Coral Gables might be best known as the home to the prestigious University of Miami and the school’s overwhelming success in both its academic and collegiate athletic program, the city offers much more to boast.
Coral Gables is also home to many historical landmarks, including the largest tropical botanical garden in the United States and the only swimming pool to be found on the National Historic Register, the Coral Gables Venetian Pool. Venetian Pool is an 820,000-gallon spring-fed grotto swimming pool constituting underground caves and comprised of native coral rock that is an awe-inspiring sight to both residents and visitors alike. Additionally, Coral Gables is home to one of Miami-Dade County’s National Landmark’s the Biltmore Hotel.
