Recipe for a good Painkiller…

Sometimes being glamorous on SoBe can be exhausting…So, for cheap and cheerful, sunset cocktails head to Monty’s.

Monty’s is raw, raw with it’s raw bar and raw with it’s decor that looks exactly as it did a decade ago. But, sometimes a little tack amongst the glitz creates break from foo-foo-ness of it all. With it’s Caribbean flair, thatched tiki bar and plastic cups and utensils, this charmingly grungy eatery is about laid back eating and drinking.

With a Monday to Friday, 5-8 happy hour, this joint packs in the locals, tourists and boaters alike to unwind and escape from it all, with gorgeous water views and gentle breezes.

Where else would you find live reggae music on South Beach nowadays anyhow…?

Other than the raw bar, the food is mostly fried, greasy and fattening, but seeing as you are eating on plastic it seems appropriate. The coconut shrimp , the She crab soup are my faves.

They have a pool and showers and day-times can be pretty low key…Monty’s

Friday is packed and the crowd spills over on to the walkway, so get there early….and enjoy a painkiller whilst enjoying the most splendid sunsets…
