Last Thursday Oct.18 I had the opportunity to take a boat trip sponsored by The Realtor Association of Greater Miami & the Beaches. I was very impressed by the transformation of the Miami River and everything is going on. To make a long story short I will inform you on some of the facts I learned during this river trip. I will write about other exciting “goings on” in the Miami River next week. Presently, there are 32 riverfront projects. Some completed, under construction or undergoing permitting and/or in the design phase. A grand total of 58 buildings. Residential units completed: 3,306. Under construction: 4,285. Permitting:7,420. Total residential units: 15,011
There will be a Water Bus available for residents & tourists. Through a connecting canal there will be water bus service connecting with the Miami International Airport. By the way, did you know that approximately 15,000 government employees work in Downtown Miami. There are presently 7 restaurants open along the Miami River and 19 new ones are projected to open in the near future. The maintenance dredging of the river started in 2004 and 40% has been completed. The Miami River Commission is in the process of obtaining $26 million for the Army Corps of Engineers needed to complete the dredging to the river’s mouth at Biscayne Bay. I will write next week about the $500 million invested in the Miami River by the goverment and the private sector. In the meantime, you can also access www.miamirivercommission.org .You can also check my website www.miamipropertyforsale.com I have a very interesting listing across the street from the Miami River the address is 442-490 N.W.S.
