Miami Bike Days are about exploring the city in a new way. This initiative by City of Miami Major Manny Diaz is meant to promote bicycling, livable streets, and the growing urban neighborhoods of Brickell and Downtown Miami. Streets are closed to motor vehicle traffic for pedestrians, bicyclists and rollerbladers to enjoy. The first event, held on November 9, 2008 was the city’s first ever “cyclovia” and it has been followed by several successful events, the last of which took place on March 14. Miami Bike Days is free, family friendly and a lot of fun.
For more information on upcoming Miami Bike Days on Sundays April 26 and May 17, you may visit the Bike Miami Blog. With all the activities to choose from like “fix a flat clinic” and yoga classes, the city is encouraging participants to plan ahead. Go out and enjoy your neighborhood!
