If you’ve ever been to Lefty’s in the Tower Shops you probably enjoyed their wings or hamburgers and maybe a brewski or two. The ambiance left something to be desired, but the food was always reliable, even respectable. Yesterday my husband and I visited the “new” Lefty’s, in the same shopping center where Shells Restaurant used to be located. The wait was 30 minutes when I arrived at 7:15 p.m. A good sign, or so I thought. Fortunately there was a table in the bar where we could be seated right away. That was the last good thing about my dining experience.
Apparently, in order to compensate for the expense of their new digs, the quality of the food and service was downgraded. Although our waiter was polite and doing the best he could, it was obvious that the restaurant was short staffed and he just could not possibly handle all the customers seated in his large area. Also, when I asked him what made Moe’s Special Wing Sauce different from the others on the menu, he didn’t have the vaguest idea what it tasted like. Their wings, which used to be meaty and juicy, were 1/2 the size of the old wings and were dried to the bone. My husband’s hamburger was cold and tasteless. The ambiance was pretty good; there were 9 televisions located in the bar with everything from sports to CNN, however the accoustics are so poor due to the design of the ceiling, that all we could hear were the customers who were yelling to one another as they tried to talk over the music.
If you have been to the new Lefty’s and had a better experience than I did, I would like to hear from you.
