Alicia Keys performs this weekend at Miami’s American Airlines Arena (Saturday, May 25th at 8:00 PM) as part of her “As I Am” Tour, along with R&B hit machine Ne-Yo, and American Idol winner Jordin Sparks. Tickets are still available and range from $36.75 to $97.25.
Pearl Jam is still alive, although they have released only one studio album since 2002, and haven’t performed in South Florida in 5 years—but they’re back (at the same venue) at Cruzan Amphitheatre in West Palm Beach on June 11th.
Last time, Eddie Vedder was a little sensitive to criticism of his expressed political views, so he closed with The Who’s “Baba O’Reilly” with lyrics “I don’t need to fight to prove I’m right. I don’t need to be forgiven” which must have hit home with him. What an ending it was to a great evening—They played everything you would ever hope to hear but “Jeremy“, even “Yellow Ledbetter” came in at the end.
[I think Cruzan is not the best venue for concerts because the seating area is so minimal and tickets sell out way too fast. (Don’t be fooled by the floor plan drawings which maximizes the seating area and minimizes the lawn—check out the aerial shot). So if you’re okay with not getting ANYwhere near the stage, it is picturesque with the sun setting behind the stage, and its fun to be outdoors, and Eddie’s eyes are even bluer on the giant screen.] Tickets for Pearl Jam were $62 for reserved seats, but only $42 festival lawn seats remain.
Also at the Cruzan is country star Toby Keith. Toby hits the stage Friday, June 27th for his “Biggest & Baddest” Tour, along with Montgomery Gentry and newcomers Carter’s Chord, Mica Roberts, and Trailer Choir. $69.50 reserved seats Tickets are still available ($31.25 for festival lawn).
