Francisco Jose de Goya: One Way to Fly/Modo de Volar
Straight from Spain and for the first time in the United States comes a rare chance to view some of Goya’s lesser known but perhaps most relevant work. The second floor of The Freedom Tower has been temporarily turned into an exhibition space to host the collection, which consists of four series of groundbreaking engravings that eloquently portray Goya’s transcendence. In them Goya casts his critical eye on society and the issues of his time, making the artworks irreverent and satirical. Magnifying glasses placed around the exhibition room allow visitors to search for the secret details in each piece. There is also a series of films on the artist being shown at the Tower Theater in Little Havana. The collection’s permanent home is the Caixanova headquarters in Vigo, Galicia and arrives to Miami after being shown in Brazil. After the exhibition closes in Miami on November 9, it will be traveling to New York.
