If you’re looking for something fun to do with your family after the holidays, allow me to suggest the 57th Annual Beaux Arts Festival of Art. This family friendly event takes place on Saturday and Sunday, January 19th and 20th from 10 am – 5 pm on University of Miami’s campus. The unique event is Miami’s oldest juried fine art show and it features more than 250 artists from all over the country. From paintings and photography, to sculptures and mixed media, there is something for everyone!
All money raised from the event is used to provide museum field trips to underprivileged elementary school students as well as to enhance and maintain the collections of the Lowe Art Museum.
One of the neatest things about the event is the children’s art park. Open to children between 5 and 12 years old, the park invites them to create their own works of art while parents are free to stroll around the festival. Best of all? There’s no charge for entrance!
Another incredible feature of the event is a Student Artist Showcase which allows middle and high school student artists the opportunity to display their creations and compete for top recognition.
I highly recommend this fun festival and promise you will not be let down. And don’t forget to bring the kids!
