FEED Bag Event – Whole Foods Aventura July 18, 2009
FEED Projects was started in 2006 when Lauren Bush designed a bag to benefit the United Nations World Food Program’s (WFP) School Feeding operations. She created the FEED 1 bag, a reversible burlap and cotton bag stamped with the “FEED the children of the world” and the number “1” to signify that each bag feeds one child in school for one year. At the United Nations, Lauren met then WFP Communications Officer Ellen Gustafson and they came up with a plan to use FEED bags to FEED the world. In 2007, Lauren and Ellen founded FEED Projects, LLC and started selling FEED 1 bags in April of 2007. In 2008, FEED Projects various partnerships will lead to over $4 million for WFP school feeding.
On Saturday, July 18, 2009 from 12:oo pm – 3:00 pm at the Whole Foods in Aventura you can purchase a FEED bag for $25 and get it personalized by local artists Jordan Thompson and Katiana Quinones from Fine Print Silkscreen of Miami at no additional cost. The bag on sale at Whole Foods is the FEED 100 bag. By purchasing the bag, 100 children will receive a nutritious meal in school through the United Nations World Food Program. In addition, Jean Michele Daudier will be performing live world music, with a focus on French-Creole beats.
