For Southern Rock Fans:
It doesn’t get any better than this!
From “Gator Country”, Jacksonville’s own Molly Hatchet is gonna “Shake The House Down” at Gulfstream Park this Saturday, September 29th at 8:00 PM. Opening for Molly Hatchet, Blackfoot, one of the most influential Southern Rock bands of all time, the term “Southern Metal” was coined to describe their sound. The hard-driving guitar sound and gravelly cries of both bands exemplify what is great about this influential music.
The Current Lineup of Molly Hatchet (from Wikipedia) features:
- Bobby Ingram – guitar – joined 1985
- Phil McCormack – lead vocals – joined 1996
- John Galvin – keyboards & organ – joined 1983, 1995
- Dave Hlubek – guitar – joined 1975, 2005
- Tim Lindsey – bass – joined 2003
- Shawn Beamer – drums – joined 2001
General Admission tickets are just $10 (yes, $10.00)

The group’s original Lead Singer Danny Joe Brown, passed away in Davie, Florida in 2005; one of the three original Lead Guitarists, Duane Roland, passed away in St. Augustine in 2006. Both were only 53 years old.
Among today’s artists heavily influenced by Southern Rock is Kid Rock (“I make Southern Rock and I mix it with the Hip Hop”). He will be playing at the newly reopened Jackie Gleason Theater aka The Fillmore . . . Thursday, October 18th at 8:00 PM. If you’ve never been to a Kid Rock show, it’s one of the most fun concert experiences you can have. His “Cocky” attitude on stage is infectiously fun! The music is upbeat and the crowd can’t sit still.
A second show of Molly Hatchet and Blackfoot might be added . . .
