Natalie Morales and Loree Shrager have joined forces to reopen a long-time art gallery at 3170 Commodore Plaza as Dharma Yoga Studio. It’s been almost a year since the closing of the only yoga studio in Coconut Grove, and the lack of a place dedicated solely to yoga has been a challenge for the many people who love the practice.
Both woman are well-known and long-time teachers in Coconut Grove. Natalie Morales has been practicing yoga almost her entire life and teaches an investigative and playful form she has trademarked as Funyasa. You can never guess what her classes will be like! She encourages her students to investigate their awareness in the patterns of thought and emotion that underlie their movement. Natalie believes that the most well-rounded approach to life and yoga involves experimenting with various styles, to honor our multi-faceted personalities
Loree Shrager is a Ph.D. in clinical psychology, having completed her dissertation on the psycho-physiological effects of yoga and meditation. She has studied extensively with many well-known teachers around the States. Loree’s flowing style is always changing, and she’s known for leading classes that are challenging, relaxing, fun and soothing all at once.
There are several classes daily, and the schedule is broadening as more teachers come on board. Recently added are Ashtanga Yoga with one of Miami’s favorite teachers, Jill Rapperport, Anusara Yoga with Peter Barber, Pre-natal Yoga with Vanessa Michel, Skanda Yoga with Jason Lawner, plus creative and fun classes with Brandi Baldwin and Debra Lee Lazaro. More will follow, I am sure!
If you would like more information about the practice of yoga or Dharma Yoga Studio specifically, give me a call. I’m one of the people who are ecstatic to have a place to do yoga in the neighborhood.
