Pinecrest Patriots in Pinecrest, Little League Baseball….
The Pinecrest Patriots went to Cooperstown, New York this Summer (June 13, 2008). Destination, Cooperstown Dream Park, Cooperstown, N.Y., what an unbelievable “awesome experience” for an 11 year old Little League Player. I was so excited to see the excitement in my grandson’s eyes along with all the other players on his team at the opening ceremony. 96 Teams from all over the country marched on to the field at the opening ceremony holding flags, wearing their pins and all with a desire to win! I could tell from the opening ceremony when 3 sky divers landed on the field this was going to be a week to remember forever!!
The team along with their Coaches (and one Dad that never went to sleep away camp) stayed in the barracks for the week (Great bonding!!). The families stayed at a great Bed and Breakfast, The 1819 House (Great bonding!!).
The Pinecrest Patriots played their hearts out, one day they had 3 games (remember these are 10 year olds). The day we had 4 WINS, Coach Grant Miller did what he said he would do after they had 4 wins- HE SHAVED HIS HEAD, RIGHT THERE ON THE FIELD!! What a great coach, what a great experience!
The Pinecrest Patriots came in about 46 out of 96, not bad at all…. Believe it or not, two Miami teams were in the playoffs, The Leon Medical Team, who came in first and The Miami Playmakers, came in second. Do we have future Major League Players in Miami or what!
Let me know if you have any questions regarding this wonderful experience (I had a fabulous time too !!) The Pinecrest Patriots team had 81 fans supporting them at Cooperstown….
