It certainly is a brave new world. I am so proud of this country. Today, I went to the Arsht Center for the Performing Arts to watch this moment in history: Martin Luther King’s Dream has come true. Forty years later, as he predicted, we have a Black president: Barack Obama. A new beginning. A better country. A better world. It’s all happening. We don’t realize it with all the media blitzing us with horrendous stories of our worst of times. But it’s also the best of times. Look around. I do. I am pleased with the social conscience rising. It’s a slow crawl, but that’s the way it works. People are getting wiser. We are evolving. It makes me happy.
My business partner, Roger, came with me as we hoofed it from his home nearby. At first we were denied entrance because we never made a reservation, and told to go around where we could wait, but someone from a radio station (he never identified himself or the station) pulled me to the side and gave me two vouchers to get wisked right in. Thank you, whoever you are. The Arsht Center is so beautiful. What a wonderful place to start the new year with the new administration. The staff at the Arsht were also very pleasant and seemed happy to be there keeping the place organized. I will be back there to see one of the concerts they have lined up this fall. It looks like a pretty impressive schedule.
I wish Barack Obama well in his quest to fix this country as our newly elected President. It’s probably the toughest job in the world right now.
Good Luck, Mr President
