Born and raised on the Ivory Coast in West Africa, Thierry Painparay moved to one of the most glamorous places in the world:
Cannes on The French Riviera.
After having graduated, he served his country as a sniper in the Army seals, based in the French Alpes, where he learned patience, extreme diligence and focus, team work and how to protect his unit.
Back to Africa in his early 20s, Thierry stayed in Abidjan for five years where he engaged in the export of exotic wood. It is here where he interacted with many different cultures. “This experience prepared me early in life for my relocation to Miami with all of its diversity.”
During his five years in Abidjan, Thierry travelled – one of his favorite pastimes. He explored Africa, Brazil, all of Europe, and of course, America. He was afforded the luxury of travelling by yacht as a steward – for two incredible years he journeyed from Turkey to Tangier — St. Barth to Miami. Thierry also organized activities for his clientele, which included diving in the Caribbean, one of his passions.
In the early 90‘s, Thierry exercised his entrepreneurial spirit by launching a limousine and concierge company in Cannes. He served yacht owners and charters exclusively. For over fifteen years, he and his crew served the “la crème de la crème” of the planet –billionaires, Forbes’ list CEOs and celebrities. During that time, Thierry was very much involved in the real estate business. He was making recommendations to his clientele between Monaco and St.Tropez.
Throughout his life, Thierry has always been in the customer service business. “One character trait that I have adopted and take extremely seriously is punctuality. In the limousine business, if you were not waiting for your client, your client would leave with your competition.”
After having sold his company, in 2008 Thierry joined Christine, his wife, in the fashion jewelry business. Along with their two young children, the family moved to Phuket, Thailand, where he and Christine set up a company in Hong-Kong specializing in the manufacturing of fashion jewelry targeting the French market. They experienced immediate success. However, in 2009, the world economy began to collapse. It was a time of decision. Even though they remained in Thailand, they closed the company.
In 2010, Thierry and his wife decided to make a healthy decision – relocate to Miami. With Christine’s former career of running a spa in Cannes, France, they bought Avant-Garde, the best hair salon and spa in Miami — located in the heart of Coral Gables. ”Because my wife is so capable at running the business, I am now able to focus on my career — Real Estate sales.”
