First of all I must admit I’m a poor translator. Secondly, I had no idea of Mozart’s lack of respect for feminist activism. Nevertheless Così fan tutte is a marvelous opera, with the most beautiful music and a wonderfully narrated story. By the way, Così fan tutte in my poor translation comes out as “Are they all like that”? or…women are all alike. It just ended its run at the Carnival Center and is now moving to Broward. Not to be missed. Singers Ana Maria Martinez, Rinat Shaham, Suzanne Mentzer and machos Brian Anderson, Michael Todd Simpson and Daniel Mobbs are superb. Maestro Stewart Robinson handled things quite well despite criticism by the Herald’s music critic. To me the whole experience was beautiful. As is the Carnival Center. Once that area is fully developed and it’s moving fast towards that, it’ll be as great as the major music centers of the world. So my advice is for you to visit the Center, go to its great concerts, the opera, the ballet or the theater. There’s great stuff most of the time and who knows…soon enough it’ll be a great place to live too. By the way there are great deals in the neighborhood. See you there!
