Kadaster, the Dutch Cadastre, Land Registry and Mapping Agency
The Dutch Cadastre, Land Registry and Mapping Agency (Kadaster called) is an independent public agency at the national level, responsible for land registration and Cadastral mapping of the Netherlands. All data, both administrative and geometric, are available in digital form. In 2004, the National maps of the Netherlands merged with Kadaster, at which time the organization took responsibility for the small-scale topographic mapping at the national level. Almost 100% of the information is available via automated data transfer, including payment information.

Independent status, means that Kadaster has its own management team of finance, human resources and marketing and the political responsibility of the Ministry of Housing, Physical Planning and Environment, under which lies Kadaster is limited. Kadaster operations are fully funded by fees charged for services provided to its customers Kadaster. Due to a favorable real estate market in The Netherlands and an automated and efficient system of registration, Kadaster has been able to reduce their charges in more than 50% since its independence in 1994.

Information System of Real Estate
Kadaster manages the largest real estate-based information sites, involving the exchange of property deeds, land registration, Cadastral map and the recording and measurement of property boundaries. The registration process includes the registration of condominiums, as well as the physical description of the rights of condominium.

The steady growth of the need for cadastral data has made the communication and information technology, vital to Kadaster. Records and Cadastral maps are fully typed.

Since 2006, notaries have access to electronic contracts. This process is fully automated through the use of digital signatures.

Land Consolidation
An important function of Kadaster is the process of consolidation of land, which is the primary responsibility of the Ministry of Agriculture. Kadaster is responsible for ensuring legal certainty in real estate and has carried out these activities since the beginning of the 20th Century. Kadaster has gathered experience in the process of inventory of the existing situation (rights and property values), to establish new plans for parcels and prepare the final billing for each individual owner.

Large Scale Base Map

Training Facilities

Kadaster also makes presentations and training in all aspects of registration of real estate to institutions related to land administration in The Netherlands and abroad. In The Netherlands, Kadaster is involved in all political aspects related to the development of rural and urban property. The organization is considered a key facilitator in these fields. Kadaster International
Through its department Kadaster International, Kadaster is active in countries where registration systems and land administration are being developed. Kadaster experts have been and are currently working in countries around the world as consultants, project managers and trainers in the various issues involved in systems. This can be either a strategic or operational level.
Kadaster is working on a system of bilateral agreements between the Netherlands and foreign governments, but also was hired for projects funded by government organizations like the World Bank and the European Union. A Kadaster is frequently invited to make proposals for these projects.

Kadaster organizes study tours for international professional groups, often as part of a training project. In these cases, visits are made to land and other institutes related to the administration and consolidation of land, not only within the Netherlands but also outside. In the recent past, has received Kadaster professionals from different countries in the world.

School for Land Administration
In close collaboration with the International Institute for Geo-Information Science and Earth Observation (ITC), Kadaster established the School for Land Administration Studies. The school operates in the context of the United Nations and its goal is to provide support in this area through education, training, research and consultancy services.
