Most of my days as an agent involve the daily task of helping others in the acquisition or disposition of real estate. Whether it’s an apartment in Downtown Miami or a single family home in Miami Beach, the objective of providing the best possible service remains the same with each and every client. This weekend, however, was different, as very rarely do I get the opportunity to help build the real estate itself. Last Friday I had the enormous pleasure of giving a helping hand to Habitat For Humanity of Greater Miami in their 2016 Blitz Build. With the help of a few colleagues from other offices, as well as dozens of other sponsors, we worked tirelessly to help in this year’s objective to build an astounding 10 homes in just 12 days!
We were assigned to the Kinsey Family Home, which also happens to be sponsored by our firm. Most of the day’s work involved assisting the builders with the construction and placement of the interior framing that lays within the walls of the home. That morning, instead of picking up a pen I picked up a hammer and not only did I happen to get the work done but also am pleased to report that this posting is being typed with no broken fingers 🙂

On a personal note, the experience of helping a family achieve their dream of owning a home, although in a much different role this time, showed me a renewed sense of how much of an impact a person a person can have in the lives of others and how a small act of kindness and the collaboration of many can lead to big strides towards making our community even stronger. I look forward to continuing to assist in the progress of the house as we continue to finish it and look forward to helping in building more for others in the future.
