The Friends of Chamber Music series opened the season at the Coral Gables Congregational Church with the Ehnes Quartet. Violinist James Ehnes is one of the premier solo violinists today. Each of the quartet members have performing careers in addition to the Ehnes Quartet. Robert deMaine is the principal cellist of the LA Philharmonic. The program included the first of Schubert’s late quartets. It was perfection. Violist Michael Tree, a founding member of the Guaneri Quartet and the Marlboro Trio, joined the Ehnes for a sublime performance of a late work by Brahms, the 2nd string quintet.
