Part of a larger group of events known as CARNAVAL MIAMI, this year’s Calle Ocho marks its 30th Anniversary and will be held on SUNDAY March 16th from 11:00 AM to 7:00 PM. Calle Ocho is a FREE block party 23 blocks long (on SW 8th Street from SW 4th Avenue to SW 27th Avenue) attracting over a million people each year. The FREE concerts feature some big names in music: Chaka Khan, Rihanna under my um-brelluh-ella-ella-eh-eh (in pink below), Herbie Hancock, Buster Poindexter, Harry Connick Jr., some of the Caribbean’s favorites: Kevin Little, Wyclef Jean, Shaggy, and local favorites: Pitbull, and Area 305 (“area tres zero cinco” pictured above), along with a Talent Search for unknowns. There are the usual vendor and corporate sponsor stalls–Lots of yummy food and brand-name giveaways.
